You are encouraged to sign your daughter up as soon as possible in order to secure timely delivery/fitting of her uniform.
REQUIRED PAPERWORK: Original Birth Certificate (unless your daughter cheered for GDYFC last year), report card ending June 2009, copy of physical dated January, 2009 or later OR letter from physician stating your child is fit to participate in cheerleading activities with no restrictions (along with copy of most recent physical), release of liability form, Sport Parent Code of Conduct and Cheerleading Code of Conduct disclosures (GDYFC will provide at paperwork collection day, TBD).
REQUIRED EQUIPMENT: For PRACTICE, your child will need shorts or pants (NO denim, zippers, buttons, "slippery"/nylon pants, sneakers (that tie) and a top (NO hooded sweatshirts, and again, no zippers, buttons etc.) and plenty of water. For GAMES your child will need GDYFC provided uniform (shell, skirt, body suit and lollies), you will be required to purchase sneakers ($35-$45),
PRACTICE SCHEDULE: Practices will be held at Cow Pond Field in Groton (The girls will move indoors once weather prohibits them from being outside---also, I am working on using a facility that has cheer mats that we can alternate competition practices). Practices will be at the discretion of the coaches, however, are usually from 5:30-7-7:30 depending on the age group. Some coaches may choose a later start or ending time depending on their schedules. The practices are a maximum of 12 hours per week (less for the mighty mite team!).
GAME SCHEDULE: The game schedule is not yet out, however the teams play youngest to oldest on Saturdays or Sundays beginning in the morning (9 a.m.).
ATTENDANCE: Your child is required to be at all practices and games. I do understand family obligations, illness etc., however, if you are going to make this commitment, it is important that you take it as seriously as the team and our volunteer coaches. Conditioning and Competition practices are mandatory. Attendance is crucial for TEAM BUILDING, Competition preparation and safety......(cannot have girls missing important instruction on lifting, tumbling etc.,!).
VOLUNTEERS: We need Coaches, Assistant Coaches, Team Parents and Jr.Coaches/Student Demonstrators. Each volunteer must complete a CORI form (found on the website or you may obtain from me or another league official) PRIOR to the start of the season. The completed CORI form along with a copy of your current photo id (license or passport) may be given at paperwork collection time.
